About Us

The College District is a non-profit alliance committed to revitalizing the District by improving the quality of life in our community. We are dedicated to increasing the vitality and attractiveness of our District and building partnerships with surrounding neighborhoods to raise awareness of and to create a more desirable area that is inviting to business and pleasure.

  • A new business alliance - the College District - was formed in Cedar Rapids in 2007. The nonprofit organization consists of businesses and institutions with an interest in the First Avenue corridor between 10th Street NE and 20th Street NE, including Wellington Heights, Mound View Neighborhood, Coe College and Mount Mercy University.

  • The organization started meeting formally in February 2007 as part of the Mound View Neighborhood revitalization project undertaken by JLG Architects. Since the first meeting, a Board of Directors has been formed to lead the large group, which meets every other month.

  • The College District focuses on membership growth and the importance of the organization, promoting local District businesses, beautification efforts, collaborating with other nonprofits and continued safety and security.
